My name is Annie Johnson and I have always believed that music is a gift.
Being able to play music is an astonishing blessing.
I have always felt incredibly blessed to be able to count it as one of my talents and having the opportunity to share it, both in performing and in teaching, has been one of the most rewarding and inspiring aspects of my life!
"The music comes from the fiddler's heart, through his strings and straight into your heart."
- Father John Angus Rankin, Cape Breton Musician
I teach students of all ages and from a variety of skill levels!
I myself did not begin playing the fiddle until I was in my mid-teens so I am a huge advocate for pursuing your passion, no matter the age or ability! If you are have always wanted to learn, you have a young person in your life who wants to learn, or if you know of someone who might be interested in learning, please don't hesitate to hit the "connect" button and get in touch! I would love to talk with you about your potential options!
I teach through an amazing, local organization called NorthWoods Strings. It provides educational music opportunities in rural, northern Wisconsin. NWS is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a musical community by providing instrument rentals as well as quality instruction to children and adults who want to learn. If you or someone you know would like more information about taking lessons, please hit the "find out more" button to take the next step!
While my performing schedule is very limited, I do occasionally take on musical events during the year! I have a small group that I play with, usually consisting of myself, a guitarist, as well as an upright bassist. The 3 of us create a lively, little trio and we enjoy playing for anyone who wants to listen!
If you have an event that needs a unique feature, consider live, instrumental folk music! Great for weddings, dinner parties, and many other events!
(We may or may not have played an informal dance or two along the way!)
